Frequently Asked Questions
  • How can I help with HIM's projects?
Keep checking this website to see when we have our work days. If you'd like, you can sign up to be added to our e-mail address list. Then, about 2 weeks before each project, we'll notify you of the details via e-mail.
  • If I donate money to HIM, is it tax deductible?
Yes, if you live in the United States. Hands In Motion is an IRS 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization. Not only can you deduct your donations, you can also deduct the miles you drive to and from our projects.  Instructions on how to donate.
  • I know someone who could use your help. How do I get HIM to help them?
HIM is not in the verification business. We're in the "meet the need" business. We get all our customers from the county's Social Services office. They take the requests and verify the need. If the client fits our criteria, Social Services contacts us. Then we contact the client.  You can contact Fauquier County Social Services.
  • I like what Hands In Motion does but I don't leave anywhere near northern Virginia. Can I start a HIM chapter where I live?
Yes. We're developing a set of procedures to assist you. We'd like to see a HIM chapter in every county of every state...eventually in every country. If you're interested in starting a HIM chapter in your county, please e-mail us at Expansion@HIMhq.org.
